Problem Note 50743: The message "Microsoft Excel has stopped working" occurs on Windows 8 Pro with Microsoft Office 64-bit editions

SAS® Add-In 5.1 for Microsoft Office 64-bit on a Windows 8 Pro x64 or Windows 8 Enterprise x64 machine with a 64-bit edition of Microsoft Office might stop working. The problem occurs when you attempt to connect to a metadata server in your connection profiles. A sequence of messages saying that Microsoft Excel has stopped working appear as in the following examples.
Click Yes to disable the add-in.
This issue is specific to the SAS Add-In 5.1 for Microsoft Office 64-bit release on Windows 8 Pro and Enterprise x64 with Microsoft Office x64 editions. It might also be applicable to Windows Server 2012 machines with Microsoft Office x64 editions. The issue does not occur on 32-bit editions of Microsoft Office.
